First it was Fear the Walking Dead, now the creators of The Walking Dead want to expand their universe even further and make a stand alone episode about a zombie attack on a plane. Enough is Enough! I’ve had it with these motherfuckin zombies on these motherfuckin planes! (That stupid joke will make sense in a second.)
This is the basic idea. The episode will take place around the same start of events as Fear the Walking Dead and will document a group of passengers aboard a plane who undergo an attack by walkers. One of the survivors of the flight will then be introduced into the 2nd season of Fear the Walking Dead as a regular cast member.
The episode will be 30 minutes long, but broken up into separate pieces that will air online during commercial breaks for The Walking Dead.
This idea isn’t new, AMC has run an online companion series for The Walking Dead before, they just never integrated it into the series. Zombies on a plane isn’t exactly a new idea either, World War Z, Flight of the Living Dead, and Quarantine 2 all included the undead ripping up shit in first class.
Producers of the web series include Dave Erickson (Fear the Walking Dead & Sons of Anarchy) and co-executive producer David Weiner (Fear of the Walking Dead ). Beyond that, there aren’t a lot of details like… who will star, what the series will be called, and how many episodes will it be.
The Walking Dead returns Oct. 11 and Fear the Walking Dead recently premiered on AMC to a record setting 13.3 million viewers – the biggest cable series debut of all time.
