If your life goals include working aboard the Starship Enterprise… congratulations! Now you can, but first you better move to China.
Liu Dejian is the millionaire owner of NetDragon Websoft, one of China’s premiere online game developers. He is also an avid Star Trek fan who has done the unthinkable, he built his company’s new headquarters in the shape of USS Enterprise NCC-1701-E (the one from the TNG movies). Dejian kept the project under wraps for awhile but recently came forward with details surrounding the structure.
The Wall Street Journal reports the building cost an estimated 97 million dollars (600 million yuan) to piece together and is 850 feet long by 300 feet wide with a total of 6-stories. NetDragon also had to secure the rights from CBS (who owns the Star Trek franchise) in order to make it… so.
“That was their first time dealing with issue like this and at first they thought that it was a joke,” said the company in an email.
“They realized somebody in China actually did want to work out a building modeled on the USS Enterprise only after we sent the relevant legal documents,” said the company.
Besides being the most incredible looking place to work, the new headquarters also houses a real life T-Rex skeleton replica. Maybe Liu is a fan of Jurassic Park as well?
This drone video from Youtube gives you the best overall view of the entire scope of the building. They would need to fire me, because I don’t think I could ever quit working there.
Liu Dejian, you are a man with exceptional taste and a unique vision. We applaud you.
