For the ramp up to awards season The Hollywood Reporter just assembled six of 2015’s best directors to attend their annual “Awards Roundtable” and discuss the current state of cinema. The talks are always enlightening and this year’s event was no different. In attendance were Quentin Tarantino (The Hateful Eight), Ridley Scott (The Martian), Danny Boyle (Steve Jobs), Alejandro G. Inarritu (The Revenant), David O. Russell (Joy), and Tom Hooper (The Danish Girl).
The discussion ranges from Tarantino and Inarritu siding about the decline of the movie going experience brought on by convenience of home theaters, to more light hearted laughs at Ridley Scott’s notion that sequels are bad and then be reminded by Tarantino about how great Prometheus and Blade Runner 2 are.
