The first official trailer for Netflix’s next original film has just landed on the internet and the feedback has been less than welcoming.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny is the follow up to the widely successful Chinese film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, directed by Ang Lee in 2000. Sword of Destiny will be Netflix’s third full length feature film and will hit streaming and select IMAX theaters February 26th. The action adventure film deals heavily with lost love and will star Michelle Yeoh, who reprises her role as Yu Shu-Lien.
The internet’s first reaction to the trailer has not been so positive with one major complaint across Reddit and Youtube being about the soundtrack, which has a Kavinsky-meets-Daft Punk vocoder vibe to it.
Besides the music, a lot of flack Netflix is getting is from the use of English over Mandarin and for its CG, which many consider to be pretty lame compared to the original wire work from the first film.
All things considered, we think it looks pretty interesting and the music is actually refreshing compared to hearing this f’ing thing in every damn trailer nowadays.
