Unfortunately, last night saw the end of Comedy Central’s Key & Peele, which is the best sketch comedy show on television. Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele always deliver on the funny, but they also manage to take the sketch comedy format and elevate it, often times to cinematic heights which increase the dosage of hilarity unfolding on screen.
We’ll definitely miss the program while awaiting a new forerunner to fill the void left in our sketch comedy hearts. Until then, check out our 10 favorite sketches.
Before you start throwing out every sketch you think we missed, let it be known that it’s next to impossible to pick the best out of tons of amazing sketches….but we tried.
01. “East/West College Bowl”
If you’re ever looking for a funny screen name, look no further.
02. “Substitute Teacher”
I’d like to think Mr Garvey would pronounce my name KUR-TEESE.
Nowhere is safe from Terry, not even the shitter.
04. “Soul Food”
A platter of stork ankles has to be one of the best soul food names ever.
05. “You Can Do Anything”
You can do anything kids, including moving on to the next video in the list.
06. “Power Falcons”
Proof that Keegan-Michael Key can play almost any ethnicity.
07. “Post-Apocalyptic Hunt”
One of the best examples of what I meant earlier when I said Key & Peele elevate sketch comedy to a cinematic level.
This sketch singlehandedly introduced “nooice” into my regular arsenal of vocabulary.
I mean, there’s no way a Key & Peele sketch about Star Wars is not making this list.
10. “Pussy on the Chainwax”
For anyone out there who ever tried to get a catch phrase off the ground.
