Arguably America’s best stand-up and writer/director/star of FX’s funniest TV show Louie, is undertaking yet another major endeavor. That’s right, Louis CK is set to make a new movie titled I’m a Cop.
The Hollywood Reporter released details of the news, including Louis taking on the triple threat of writing, directing and starring in the film, just like on Louie. He’ll also get the producing power of Scott Rudin (The Grand Budapest Hotel & The Social Network.) as well as Dave Becky and Blair Breard, who worked with Louis on his last special Live at the Comedy Store (which was amazing) and Louie.
The storyline for I’m a Cop centers around a volunteer cop who’s living in his mother’s shadow, a beloved and retired police officer. After her passing he steps up and becomes a full time law man, which he wasn’t planning for or is really excited about.
Even though his last directed feature, Pootie Tang, was considered a flop, it was still hilarious (sorry if you don’t agree… you’re wrong.) Let’s be honest, with his track record over the last few years, there’s no way this is going to suck.
For now there’s no tentative release date but hopefully we’ll see this ready by next year.
