Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese are a team that produce hits and they are looking to add to their list with The Devil in the White City, which will be their sixth collaboration together after The Wolf of Wall Street, Shutter Island, The Departed, Gangs of New York, and The Aviator,
The Devil in the White City is Erik Larson’s best selling 2003 book about H.H. Holmes, who murdered 27 (and possibly up to 200) people, most of whom were young women. The story takes place at the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, mostly at a hotel Holmes built near the fairgrounds which was designed to help him make the job of serial killing a little easier. Killers gonna kill.
This long-awaited adaptation has been in development for over a decade, according to Variety, and was originally going to be produced by Tom Cruise before Scorsese picked it up.
The Hunger Games writer, Billy Ray, will be writing the script for The Devil in the White City and so far there’s no other news on additional actors who will be joining the project.
Leonardo will be hitting the big screen later this year in The Revenant, which holds the promise of finally winning him an Oscar. If not, hopefully this new collaboration with Martin will. The man deserves one already.
