Jurassic World had one of the best openings of any film in history and yesterday it became the third highest-grossing film of all time, finally beating the The Avengers with $1.52 billion in tickets sold. The crazy thing is, it still hasn’t even opened in Japan, which could help boost it to the number two spot… watch out Titanic!
Today, Universal (to no ones surprise) just confirmed a sequel.
Jurassic World 2 is slated to arrive in theaters on June 22nd, 2018. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will both return to star in the film. Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow and writer Derek Connolly, will both be penning the screenplay for the sequel. Steven Spielberg will again executive produce through his Amblin Entertainment banner.
Thanks to Jurassic World, Chris Pratt has become Hollywood’s most in-demand actor. Besides a Jurassic World sequel, he’s also confirmed for the sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy. Plus he’ll be co-starring alongside Jennifer Lawrence in Passengers. There are also rumors that he may be the next Indiana Jones, but that’s still not confirmed.
