Good news for Daily Show fans, Jon Stewart is returning to TV, only not with Comedy Central.
The ex Daily Show host has inked a deal with HBO that will find him commenting on the day-to-day events in world news. This is the first of many projects that Jon will take part in at HBO.
Stewart will create daily short-form content for HBO go and HBO Now, HBO’s online streaming channels. HBO describes the shorts as, “timely short-form digital content, which will be refreshed on HBO Now multiple times throughout the day” that have Stewart viewing “current events through his unique prism.”
Stewart said in regards to the announcement, “Appearing on television 22 minutes a night clearly broke me,” he added. “I’m pretty sure I can produce a few minutes of content every now and again.”
President of HBO Programming Michael Lombardo stated: “Jon Stewart led a revolution that changed the face of TV comedy on the Daily Show. He graced our network nearly 20 years ago, so we’re thrilled to welcome back his immense talents in this next chapter of his career.”
After more than 15 years of hosting, Stewart left the Daily Show earlier this year and we were pretty bummed out that we wouldn’t be able to get our fix anymore. Looks like he just needed a break, but we’re glad to see him coming back.
