1. 2. Freddy’s coming for you… again. In news that’s not extremely shocking, New Line is planning on rebooting the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise yet again and If I had to guess (since there’s no official news yet), they’re probably making it without Robert Englund as Freddy – why even bother at this point?
I’m not 100% dismissive of all reboots, but the last attempt in 2010 with Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy, was god awful. Hopefully they can steer the story in a direction that’s unique and interesting.
A Nightmare on Elm Street was the first released in 1984 and was a masterpiece of horror that shot New Line, Robert Englund, Johnny Depp, and We Craven into the spotlight. Just incase you haven’t seen any of the 9 films about Freddy Krueger – he was a child murderer who dies, then instead of going to heaven (because the whole child murder thing), finds himself living out his afterlife in the dreams of young people who he tries to kill.
According to EW, New Line is still in the early stages of development of the new Nightmare on Elm Street film. As stated above, there’s no word on who will play Freddy Krueger, but New Line has hired David Leslie Johnson (Orphan) to write the reboot.
