Didn’t get enough of Ethan Burke and the abbies last season? Don’t worry, Fox has you covered.
Wayward Pines was Fox’s number one broadcast-scripted series last summer and they plan on continuing it with another season. The series stars Matt Dillon (as Ethan Burke) and is produced by M. Night Shyamalan. It takes place in a small mysterious Idaho town where Ethan Burke searches for two missing federal agents.
According to Fox’s press release, “The second season will pick up in the wake of season one, when a new arrival in Wayward Pines finds himself in the middle of a serious rebellion, as the residents battle over how to preserve the endangered human race.”
There’s still no word on whether any of the original cast will return, or if Shyamalan will continue to produce and possibly direct.
Two things were clear to most of you familiar with the series after it wrapped up last season. A: It was obviously left open ended so they could continue with another season and… B: Why?
The first season was a perfectly contained story up until the last 5 minutes and to continue it seems redundant. They should follow the lead of series like Fargo and True Detective and make Wayward Pines an anthology. That’s just our 2 cents.
