Incase you haven’t heard, True Detective (Season 1) director Cary Fukunaga is attached to direct the upcoming two part remake of Stephen King’s classic novella and TV mini-series, It. Since the announcement at the end of last year, many wondered who would take on the reimaging of Tim Curry’s iconic performance as the evil bastard and haunter of young children’s nightmares… Pennywise the Clown.
Sources at Variety confirmed that Fukunaga has found an actor to fill Curry’s shoes, and that man is Will Poulter. Poulter is best known as the geeky virgin in We’re the Millers, as seen below.
Personally, I preferred him in 2007’s indie sleeper hit Son of Rambo.
Cary Fukunaga’s version of It will take a different turn from the mini-series and focus on the protagonists during their teenage years. Supposedly after auditioning a handful of older actors, Fukunaga was blown away by Poulter, and insisted on having him play the roll. I’m sure Poulter can handle It.
Anything Fukunaga is attached to will have my undivided attention. Now the last question I have is… will he be ballsy enough to include that gangbang scene from the book?
