Sony didn’t have a great 2014, mainly because their computers were hacked to death, and their personal business was strewn across the web. From those hacks we heard rumors of a potential crossover between the two franchise goliaths, 21 Jump Street and Men in Black. Well today we learned those speculations were true, and on top of that Sony has also planned an all female spin off of 21 Jump Street.
The Wrap reports the team that brought you 22 Jump Street, producer Neal Moritz and directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, will be running the crossover and the spinoff as well. Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill are both set to return in the crossover and will find themselves amid the MIB universe policing aliens. There’s no official word on whether Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, or Josh Brolin will be donning their suits again and joining the cast.
Broad City writers Lucia Aniello and Paul Downs will pen the script for the spinoff and speculations are that Dakota Johnson will be involved, since she’s already appeared in the franchise as an officer.
Personally I’d rather see this installment take off!
But I guess that’s not gonna happen anytime soon. In the meantime I’ll have to settle. I don’t know, is Hollywood running out of ideas or what?
